Lord,

Thank You for the example of Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemas. When no one else did, You used a secret follower of Jesus and a Pharisee to honor Jesus in burial. The one, too afraid of the Jews to publicly confess Christ. . . The other, a leader of the Jews. You united the timid and the one he was afraid of for Your glory. Unite your church with this kind of unity of purpose.

Don't let me ever diminish the horror of the cross just to keep a nice, pleasant feeling in a time of worship (31). Thank You that even the way Jesus died confirmed that He is the Christ to which all the old testament points (32-37).
