Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Pastoral Ministry, Part 1: A Pastor’s Responsibility

The call of God into pastoral ministry is a profound and humbling responsibility. It is profound in the sense that preaching is the means by which God has planned for people to hear and understand His gospel. It is humbling in the sense that, apart from God’s grace and provision, no one is capable of the awesome responsibility inherent in the pastorate. A pastor is, first and foremost, responsible to God and is unswervingly subject to the Holy Spirit’s leadership and guidance. Since the pastor and his wife are one flesh, he is responsible in his role as husband and father second only to his responsibility toward God. Inseparable from his two primary responsibilities and intricately interdependent with them is his responsibility to fulfill his high calling as pastor.
