Sweeping revival floods have happened many times and can surely happen again! Consider God’s incredible imagery describing mighty outpourings of His Spirit. In Isaiah 44:3, God refers to sending forth His Spirit like “floods of water on dry ground and upon the thirsty.” Jesus described His Spirit as “rivers of living water flowing from our hearts” (John 7:38). The unique Greek word used here for rivers, implies a continual gushing torrent or flood of God’s Spirit!
In Acts 2:2, God’s manifest presence was the “sudden sound of a rushing, mighty wind and a fire that filled the disciples.” Even our English word for “dynamite” comes from the Greek word “dunamis” which Jesus used to describe the mighty power to flow through His followers (Acts 1:8).
God wants you to believe he is ready and able to flood your life with His holy presence. Though God’s mighty flood may not come overnight, it will come if you are willing to let Him remove your barriers! In fact, some of the most incredible transformations come to the most battered people and troubled churches.
Are you thirsty for a flood of God? One thing is certain—no repentant person or church is too far gone for God’s mighty touch!
