Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Growing Signs of Hope

At last, there are growing signs God is up to something not seen since the last Great Awakening. All across the land, we see evidence of growing spiritual hunger, increasing prayer and deepening repentance. While admittedly, this rising tide is only a very small percentage, it is growing!

We can take great hope in the fact God sends revival floods through the small percentage, not the lukewarm majority. And even if sweeping revival does not come to the whole nation, it can certainly come to your family and church! No matter how long you may have struggled, we serve the all-powerful, merciful God Who finishes what He starts (Philippians 1:6). Take heart, God is now calling us to a whole new level of closeness. We can learn to hallow and exalt God’s name as never before!

You may be asking, “Where are these signs of a potential revival flood?” After all, dark clouds of moral collapse and spiritual decay abound on every hand. But remember a most encouraging truth—revivals usually explode in times of darkness and trial, not comfort and ease. Floods come to dry ground and great lights in times of deepest darkness. On that score one thing is obvious, it is getting gloriously dark! In fact, we are already under growing levels of judgment.

I must stress there are indeed signs God may yet have to send greater judgments to fully turn us to Himself. Let us remember the words of 1 Peter 4:17, “Judgment begins at the house of God.” But even if God sends far greater chastisements, His ultimate desire is redemption and restoration for His own. God will likely do whatever it takes to hear the burdened prayers of millions He has now called to prayer. But even if it must begin with judgment, a God-glorifying revival is worthy whatever breakings are required to see it!
