Heavenly Father,

Teach me how to have joy in You always. Joy in You is so important that Paul says it twice and actually commands us to rejoice in You (4). Help me show everybody I meet undeserved kindness today as You make Your grace known through me (5). Help me not to worry. Instead, keep my heart and mind at peace as I put ALL my concerns in Your hands, trusting that You will work ALL things for good (6-7).

Give me people in Your body whose obedience is my joy and my only desired reward (1). Help us to stand firm (1) by remembering where our true citizenship is and the glory to come (3:19-20). Use me to foster unity in your body with a singular focus on the gospel (2-3) rather than personal preferences. Thank You for co-workers. Thank You for writing my name in the book of life when my pen was completely out of ink (3).

Lord, 

Thank You for taking hold of me and not letting go. Help me to do ALL I can today to grow toward maturity in You (12). I will grow toward spiritual maturity by: admitting I am not there yet, not dwelling on past failures or achievements (3), but making it my daily goal to pursue the future heavenly reward promised by God rather than earthly reward from people (13-15), and living today in line with all that You have taught me from Your Word so far (16).

Read Philippians 3:7-11 and let the Spirit apply it. 

Lord,

In light of the perfect righteousness of Jesus, my best attempts at righteousness are shown to be worthless (7). The best thing for me is knowing Jesus (8). So I reject my reliance on my own "righteousness" in order to gain Christ's real righteousness (9). Help me know Jesus better today, live in His power today, be ready to suffer for that which He suffered, be dead to sin, and trust You to raise me up in the end (10-11).

Lord,

Help me rejoice today in keeping someone from thinking that they please You by their outward religious activity. Help me walk "by the Spirit" rather than according to what people expect (3). So spiritually circumcise my heart so that I will be clearly marked as Yours on the inside: as one of Your people, one of Your children, a true Israelite by faith, living out the law of love, zealously killing sin in my life, and righteous with Christ's righteousness (5-6).

Lord,

Make me more like Epaphroditus today: relating to others believers like a real brother or sister, working at the same task, fighting the same fight, ministering to their needs, being more concerned for them than for myself (25-27). Let me not give greater value to famous, beautiful, or popular people, but to those who give their lives daily to make known the gospel of Christ (29-30). Make me this kind of believer today.

Don't let me hide Your light from the world today by complaining, as if You do not work all things for the good of Your people. Don't let me hide Your light from others today by arguing, as if You don't persuade Your people of truth by Your Spirit-applied Word (14-16). Make my work for You today fruitful, even if I don't see it until Christ returns (16).
