Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Crazy Days of Summer

Wow! What a busy time of the year! What happened to the days we used to call the “lazy, hazy days of summer”? They certainly seem like a long time ago in a place far, far away. As always, summertime is a busy and exciting time in the life of Brushfork Baptist Church.

We kicked off the summer with a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School. It was a joy to see God’s house filled with active and eager children and all of the workers were fantastic! Miranda and I got to spend a few days in Louisville, KY, at the SBC Pastor’s Conference and Annual Meeting, but now it’s time to get on with what’s ahead. And what’s ahead is exciting!

On Saturday night, July 11th, we will be kicking off our Family Summer Series with a movie night at the church. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be canvassing the area and distributing tickets to invite all of our neighbors to come and view the Christian movie Fireproof. We will provide the movie and popcorn and our youth will provide childcare.

The following morning (Sunday, July 12th) will see the start of a six-week sermon series focusing on what the Bible has to say about marriage and family issues. Then after church, we will gather at the Graham Recreation Park for our Annual Family Picnic, also known as our Sunday School picnic. There will be good food, good Gospel singing, and great fellowship. This will be an opportunity for us to gather together in casual fellowship and show our guests the love of Christ by the way we love each other.

Later in the summer (on a date to be announced), our Baptist Men will be hosting a Mother / Daughter Dinner. I might not know the date yet, but I know it will be a first-class event for a group of first-class ladies. Other events to look for this summer will be Missions Camp, our Youth Vacation Bible School, Choose 2009 (Youth Rally), and a Father / Son outing. As you can see, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and something for everyone to help with. I can’t wait!
