Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Christmas Family Devotional Guide

Christ Our Passover (I Corinthians 5:7-8)

Egypt (Exodus 12:1-2)

What is this Egypt? The Bible introduces you to Egypt in Genesis 12:10. This is where Abraham went when he experienced famine in the land of Canaan. There he picked up Hagar as a handmaiden for Sarah, and trouble would follow. Egypt is where Joseph would come to after being sold by his brothers, and where his father, Jacob and the sons, would come, and trouble would follow. This is the Egypt that housed the Jewish nation where they were held enslaved in bondage, physically and spiritually, to their gods. This is the Egypt that the young child Jesus, with his parents, came from to go to Nazareth.

Egypt—our bondage that we flee from . . . to new life in Christ (Exodus 12:1-2).

The Passover Lamb (Exodus 12:3-17)

Examine the Lamb (vs. 3-5): It must be without blemish, spotless, without defect of any kind. Examine it for 3 days from the 10th to the 13th day of the month.

Kill the Lamb (vs. 6): On the 14th day after three days of examining, you are to kill the Lamb in the evening. The whole congregation will kill a lamb.

Strike the Blood of the Lamb (vs. 7, 22, 23): Take hyssop, dip it in the Blood and strike it on the lintel and two side posts, and do not go out of the house till the morning (a new day comes). Let all see the Blood on your house.

Eat the Lamb (vs. 7, 10): Roast the Lamb with fire and eat it all; and whatever remains until the morning (a new day), burn with fire. Everyone was to leave Egypt with a Lamb in them.

Christ, Our Passover Lamb

Examine the Lamb (Matthew 21: 8, 9, 23): The Lamb was questioned, examined, and condemned (Matthew 26:1-5). Through all the examination the Lamb was found without fault, spot, or blemish (Luke 23:13-15).

Kill the Lamb (Luke 23:21): After no fault was found in the Lamb and the Lamb was found to be perfect, the Lamb was killed and the Lamb died in the evening, (Luke 23:44-46).

Strike the Blood of the Lamb (Hebrews 9:11-14): The blood flows from His two sides, His hands and from over the door . . . His head, His sides and His feet. Jesus is the door . . . where the blood was struck (John 10:7).

Eat the Lamb (John 6:48-56): The Lamb paid the price of His soul in the flames of hell (Acts 2:27). Every sin that remained has been burned with fire and nothing will remain in the morning (a new day).

Faith

As in the first Passover, all the steps were carried out by the command of God given by Moses. It was done by Faith. And everyone could leave Egypt with a Lamb in them. Christ now is our Passover, and everyone can come from bondage and live a new life with a lamb in them. They may kill you, but they cannot kill the Lamb that is in you. He died once . . . never to die again.

Christ in You . . . the Hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27).

Great Biblical Truth: Live Knowing You Have the Lamb in You.
